KELLY’S SELF-CARE
(Stay-home edition)
TRY SOMETHING NEW
The Wim Hof breathing method is invigorating and really helps me with my focus and productivity.
READ
Jasper Fforde’s Shades of Grey. I read this many moons ago, and I wanted to revisit it. It’s a wonderfully written book about social class and divide. I have been dying for Fforde to release the sequel for years now.
LISTEN TO
Lost Frequencies, Kygo, AVICII. Artists who remind me of sunshine, dancing and beaches.
WORKOUT
I am subscribe to MoveU and Centr (by Chris Hemsworth) at the moment. MoveU for bodily awareness and movement to prevent old ailments from returning. It’s not cheap, but I love their online libraries of content that really help me with all the issues I have. Plus they managed to trademark their phrase “Fix Yo Sh*t” — I think that’s pretty cool. Centr is good for a quick sweat.
MORNING ROUTINE
My new routine of waking up to breathe, stretch, do a little yoga flow and foam roll is my favourite thing. It is a new routine, but it is one that I am really enjoying.
INSTAGRAM INSPIRATION
I love @practisewithjen. I attended one of her restorative yoga classes a while back when I was particularly stressed and had broken out in a horrible case of hives. I have never felt so relaxed. She posts regular 10-minute breathing practises that I find exceptionally calming.
HOME/WORK BOUNDARY
The notion of personal time and space with a young child at home is really tricky. I try to pack as much into my mornings as possible when she is at school so that when she is home, I can focus my attention on her. Again, the Wim Hof breathing method has helped me gain a lot more focus and clarity, and be productive throughout the day. You really need to try it.
MADE HER SMILE
A video of (my daughter) Sienna when she was younger made me smile. She has grown so much lately. It reminded me of how busy I was, and how I maybe should have slowed down sooner to appreciate all her little quirks. I’m not repeating that mistake.
